    1. [CATEHAMA] SALES OF DISTRICT COURT IN 1879
    2. Jeannette L. Molson
    3. Posted on: Tehama County Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ca/Tehama?read=216 Surname: LOGAN ------------------------- I've come across a deed, between Alfred J. LOGAN and Herbert KRAFT, dated 20 May 1879. Although, according to the deed, this was a 'sale made by virtue of a decree of the District Court of the State of California in and for Tehama County in favor of Herbert KRAFT against Alfred J. LOGAN', the Superior Court could not find any documentation. Where would such documentation be filed, if not in the Superior Court records? I have a copy of the deed transfer and tried to find out about the decree but to no avail. The property, in question, consisted of 740 acres formerly known as the Alpaugh Ranch. Any suggestions on where to look next, would be appreciated.

    1. [CATEHAMA] DODD / DODSON Klamath River & Yreka, Siskiyou Co, CA to Red Bluff ,Tehama Co, C
    2. Per interview with Bob E. Dodson on April 20, 2000 This story my father has told to me was told to him by a Charlie DODSON in Yreka, Siskiyou County, CA (prob. around 1950-60s). There was also a Thomas DODSON, seemingly unrelated, in the Klamath River area north of Yreka, who, in my fathers opinion, was from the same line of DODSONs. I would like to be able to locate these men's families to compare notes and hopefully further my/our research. Thomas DODSON is probably in his 80s now and Charlie DODSON is most likely deceased. It is believed that Thomas DODSON, who lived along the Klamath River in Siskiyou Co., CA relocated to the area of Red Bluff, Tehama Co., CA. Anyway here is the story! It is about the migration of a ship captain, a pirate, ( surname or given name of) DODD who got into some terrible trouble in England and was forced to leave. Before leaving England he owned three pirate ships. He gave one to a Norwegian ( & family?), gave one to an Italian & family ?) and kept one for himself. [I suppose he could not sail all three himself]. DODD and the two men loaded up their ships with their belongings (family?) and sailed. The Italian, it is believed, took his ship to the Mediteranian. The Norwegian and DODD came to the "new world", to the Carolina shores, around 1630. [I know, it sounds like the beginning of one of those ethnic jokes.] DODD set up a base camp on the Carolina shores and pirated the shore lines, around Florida. Barbados and along the Texas shorelines as well. When more pressure was on him he took his ship up into a river of the Carolinas and settled there. There were four or five sons and one daughter. Bob, in an earlier interview, said she returned to her country of origin. During this interview he suggested she might have married one of the Norwegian clan. [I do not have any of their names.] Bob said when the sons split up and moved west they first made an agreement to go by the surname of DODSON, which stood for Dodd's sons. Bob went on to say some of the DODSONs went to Missouri, and Bob's branch went to Kentucky. [So, Kentucky is perhaps where I should be looking.] I have yet to figure out the names of these people and when the migration occurred to CA, and why. So far, I have not gotten them out of CA to even be in Kentucky. I know, I know it doesn't sound real, but .... maybe it is. And it is what I have to go on. If anyone has heard this same or similar story or knows of the family of Thomas or Charlie DODSON please e-mail me. 3. If you have a death date on Mary Van Fossen you can order the death certificate from either the state or the county. I'm not familiar with the Lingenfelter Archives but the death date can be verified thru a lookup in the CA Death Index. The death certificate will give you burial information and the funeral home that handled the arrangements along with parent's names and the cause of death. Deaths before state mandated reporting in July 1905 have to be researched at the county level. Here's the info site for CA vital records: http://vitalrec.com/ca.html - visit the link for Tehama If you haven't verified the death date thru CADI there's a new mailing list for lookups - CA-DEATH-INDEX-L@rootsweb.com <mailto:CA-DEATH-INDEX-L@rootsweb.com> Colleen Norby Rootsweb sponsor ø,¸¸,ø*°´°*ø,¸¸,ø*°´°*ø,¸¸,ø*°´°*ø,¸¸,ø*°´°*ø,¸¸,ø -----Original Message----- From: BLias@aol.com <BLias@aol.com> To: CATEHAMA-L@rootsweb.com <CATEHAMA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, April 12, 2000 5:11 AM Subject: [CATEHAMA] Re: VAN FOSSEN >Second or perhaps third request for death date/burial/obituary information >for NEHEMIAH VAN FOSSEN.
