My grandmother, Ada Belle Bowles Lail, died in Catawba County April 3 1934. No death certificate can be found-Catawba County or in the State Archives at Raleigh. She lived in an older house located between Bunker Hill Covered Bridge and I-40. Reportedly her doctor was one of the Drs. Long from the town of Catawba. Does anyone know of any records of these two doctors that have been made public?
Charles, Death certificates aren't kept at the State Archives. They are kept by the NC Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, State Center for Health and Environmental Statistics - Vital Records Section. (I cheated and copied all that from a certified death certificate that I got from there.) That said, if a death certificate isn't in the Register of Deeds office in the county, it probably isn't in Raleigh either.
