Sorry I did not read your original message well enough to realize you had already given us the birthdate for your mother.Does her social security application give her birth place, some I have seen show that information. It will take two requests for the 1920 census index to find your people, one for NC and one for VA. I can do that but it will take me a couple of weeks since I have to order them - how about it for anyone who can access the index without ordering it - I am in Idaho and the entire 1920 census itself is here in my local archives but not the index - Can anybody lend a hand and make this a co-op effort?
