I am being sellfish and seeking Christmas Gifts! First let me wish for one and all, a very Blessed and Joyous Christmas Season. For some time I have been gathering as much information as possible about the Meeting Houses and Places where our ancestors worshipped. I thought I knew of all those places expecially here west of the Catawba River, but I have learned about two locations that had not previously attracted my attention. I even learned where the meeting house was located in the vicinity of the "Big Gullies". Someone asked me if I knew where this was and I told them about another Cemetery near a big gully but it was not the one they were seeking. Now I can give that person the information about where the cemetery is located. I am trying to put together information about all the early meeting houses West of the Catawba River during the period of 1750-1900. I will also attempt to cover the area which was covered by the Lutheran and German Reformed Ministers during this period. The extended area would be the area West of Orange County. This area would include St. Paul's Lutheran Church which is located just east of the Alamance Battleground on Alamance Creek. I was Pastor of thei Congregation in the late 1950's. Since I was Pastor of St. Paul's Alamance County and Trinity Lutheran Church, Vale in Catawba County, I would like to cover all points between these points. For me it is unique that I had the opportunity to learn aboutthis area as a Lutheran Minister. It is too bad that I was not involved in Historical Research when I was living in those areas in my earlier years. I would appreciate any and all information you are willing to share with me about the places of worship which you are familiar with. Because of my families interest in History as well as my own, we have visited many of the older Churches which are located in this area. Thanking you in advance for your assistance in this project. Pat--What a wonderful project and I look forward to seeing great things. I am hoping that some of the Transylvania County Gen List & Descendants of John L. Kent folks might be able to help out in some small way.
