I just joined this list and hope to find out more about NC pre Rev War.. and afterwards.. I descend from John Tucker who was in Tryon County 1770s. He died 1800 in Lincoln Co. His wife at the time he died was Ann Gilkey who I believe was a sister to Robert Gilkey of Rutherford Co. I am also interested in Nicholas ILER. He lived in Mecklenburg Co. them Lincoln Co. I believe either his daughter or his ward Elenor McCord married John Tucker Jr. Sophia Tucker married John Hutchison Harry in Lincoln Co in 1828. I descend from them. John H. Harry joined the Texas Army as a Captain and took 78 volunteers to Texas from this area in 1836. Does anyone have family that went to Texas from NC at that time and might have been one of his volunteers? Betty Vaughn
