Sorry, but unless we prove that Maria Barbara who married Christian Treffenstadt really was an Eckert, looking for her parents seems pointless. I accept the premise that she was, but have never proved it nor found anyone who can. No matter how many articles there have been in what publication, we all need proof for this. All that aside, Martin Eckard probably was of the same family as Adam, and posssibly a grandson. As to the matter of Nicholas Fry and his so called step daughter - his wife indeed was as Ray Yount posted and I agree there is confusion among the generations here. Moselem Luthern Kirk Book states that Nicholas Frey was son of Johannes Frey and married 13 Mar. 1744 Maria Elizabeth Pabst, daughter of Heinrich Pabst and his wife Gertrud Kieffer. I don't believe this Nicholas had any step children, but any number of other scenarios could be made of the matter. Do you have any info on Adam Eckard/Echert's parents? It is rumored in my family tree that my gggg grandmother was Maria Barbery(Barbara) Eckard/Echert b.1725-1730 died 1792 Lincoln County NC and married Christian Treffenstatt. Their daughter Catherine Treffenstatt b. 1752 Catawba County NC d. 1792 Claremont NC married Martin Eckard. It is also rumored that Martin Eckard was Maria Eckard's nephew. I would love to prove or disprove this theory. Any help anyone can give on this would be appreciated. Donna
