    3. Dear Fellow researchers: I'm still searching for grandmothers who married in the Lincoln Co. area 1760s to 1815. I feel that I have turned over every leaf, twig and stone, but still their maiden (and some baptismal) names elude me. If you should have probate records of your family that contain any documents on any of the following, please let me know. It might be the clue I'm looking for. I've begun "putting my house in order' and making an effort to organize all of my unpublished 57 year collection of materials and tie up even more loose ends (but that may never happen). I'm making an effort to preserve these records so that they will be available to the public in the future. If you can help me find these grandmothers, I would be ever so grateful! CREUTZ/KRITES/GRITES/CRITZ/CRITES and any other spelling of this name? Those who signed in German signed CREUTZ both in NC and MO Davault (often written as David) Critz shows up in Lincoln Co. NC with wife Sophia and purchased land on Killian's Creek 1763 and sells all of his land in Lincoln Co 1800-1802 and is in MO with his family on the 1803 census of the Louisiana Purchase. He wills to his six living children; The eldest son Peter whose wife was Mary on all records in MO documents but many claim he is the husband of the missing Margaret Fulbright named in William Fulbright's will.; Abraham who went to MO ca 1810 with several children and had more in MO, most of which went into Pope Co., AR; David: but have been unable to find this man any where but could be the one mentioned still at home in MO Land Claims of 1803. No indication found that he ever married or had a family. Barbara wife of Daniel Bollinger, Margaret wife of Peter Ground, Catherine widow of Jacob Slinkard, all left NC and in MO by 1803 He appears to have had a son John who is deceased by 1805 who also had one child in MO Peter Creutz (he signed his name in German) who appears to have been either a newlywed or married soon after coming to NC. (Appears to be brother of Davault Critz ) He sold his land in NC 1815 and the entire clan went to MO with him, or at least those still in NC. He too had several children, but left not one document with a spouse's name or a list of children. The latter having been determined by a process of elimination. However something peculiar going on in this family. Grandchildren's names appear with the following given names: several Conrads, William Henderson, James Anderson, Jacob Henderson, James Henderson Crites, etc all carried on down. No indication on how these names wandered in unless after some grandfather way back when! Peter Critz, Jr. appears to have a large family in NC & MO (and may be the one who fathered William Goodson who later changed his name to William Critz (remained in NC and married 1821 to Barbara Dellinger). Daniel b. before 1774 m. Barbara Kinder (LCM), no date but sometime in early 1790s. His widow was "Maria" and this may be a second wife rather than "Maria Barbara" Kinder. A quit claim deed in MO provides a fulll list of his children. Jacob (my line) b. ca 1770 m. mid to late 1790s in NC and went to MO ca 1810 He was widowed before 1819 and married Catherine Settlemire ca 1819 in MO, widow of Adam. He later is thought to be the one who m. 1825 in Madison Co., MO to Katherine Dellinger, widow of Phillip. A complete list of his children was made when son Peter died without issue 1833 Other sons could be Ephriam, Phillip, Peter, Jr., Henry and John Critz who m. 19 Mar 1799 Catharina Lorance, LCMB Some daughters of this family on LCMB Elizabeth Crites m. 20 Nov 1804 Peter Kinder who died in Mo 1813 Fanny Crites m.14 April 1813 Turner Duncan and was in MO 1830-40 census Catharine CRATZ m. 16 Aug 1810 Samuel Limming (Not sure this was a Crites or of the Valentine CRATZ family. Even the tiniest hit will be appreciated. Thanks Lorena
