One package was the remains of W.C.G. McLeod (1891-1977), which had been at the Mail Recovery Center in St. Paul, MN for at least 12 years. A July article in Smithsonian caused readers to supply the names of McLeods dying in 1997, and postal officials tracked down William C. Gordon McLeod's son in Detroit. He had believed the remains were in the family's possession the entire time, and plans to take his father's ashes to Canada, to be buried with other family members. There are two other similar packages waiting -- one is a small cardboard box with no identification. It is the size of a dictionary and was mailed in November 1999 from Robbinsdale (MN?) to "BCCAP Victims of Domestic Violence" in Hackensack, NJ. There is no such place, so the package is still there. The other is a silver urn, containing the remains of Sarah Louise WILLOUGHBY, born 20 March 1952 and died 28 Feb 1991. I checked SSDI and found no listing. Please pass this on to other lists you subscribe to -- let's get these folks home!
