All my home telephones were destroyed by lightning on August 1st and I am just now able to get back online. [So you'll know I do in fact appreciate your writing me, but have been unable to communicate by e-mail except at my office where the "legal" work of my attorney-employer must take priority over my own genealogy work.] We have combed the Albemarle Parish Register in Richmond (and have some of the transcriptions) which have also been studied with great care; however, we have been unable to "link" our Nathaniel Meacham/Mitchum, born 1780 to anyone except Henry, born 1766 about which I wrote on the Catawba-West rootsweb page. You are absolutely correct that it is uncanny the resemblance between the names of the children of Banks, born 1748, of Sussex County, Virginia, and those of our Nathaniel. He and his wife, Jemima Reynolds Mitchum were married in October of 1801 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, and had 13 children, as follows: [We are not 100% sure of the order of birth, but have taken this information from census and other records.] This is generally correct, though: 1. Joshua Mitchum, born 1802, died 1833, Lincoln County, North Carolina; married on January 20, 1825 to Amie Williams, born 1810, died in the 1870's in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Three children: Berry; Thomas; and Pinkney. 2. Henry Mitchum, born 1804, died ?; married on October 11, 1843 to Elizabeth Crawford in Carroll County, Georgia. 3. Logan Mitchum, born 1805, died in the 1860's in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Married on September 25, 1829 Louisa Best, born 1812, died February 25, 1875 in Doniphan, (Ripley County) Missouri. Nine children: A female who died very young and whose name never appeared on census or any other record we have found; William M.; Joseph B., 1835-1861 (my ancestor); Robert Joshua; Hugh C.; Lawson Sidney; Susannah; Dulcenia; and James. (birth and death dates, and names of spouses omitted here). 4. Banks Mitchum, born 1807, died ?; married on December 7, 1831 to Susannah Wise, born 1812, died October 25, 1885 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Nine children: Susannah; Andrew J.; Barbara; Nathaniel; Sarah; Jemima; Martha; William Henry; and Albert Burtus. (Same information omitted here and for others to follow). 5. Sarah (Sally) Mitchum, born 1809, died?; married first to Thomas Cline on October 18, 1825 and secondly to Henry Johnson in 1833, both in Lincoln County, North
