Dear Dan, These appear to be the same case. In the "Catawba Cousins", Vol 4, No. 4, there is a listing of Bastardy Bonds and Records, 1868-1911. In 1878, Sidney Yount is charged with bastardy at the complaint of Laura Gant. In 1879, Sid Yount is charged by Laura Gant for non-support of child. I know of only two Sidney Younts in this time frame. One was Sidney L. Yount, who married Isabella Fox 26 Oct 1871. He was born Oct 18, 1815. He was a Civil War veteran and lost a leg in the war. He was sheriff of Catawba County. This Sidney was the son of Franklin A. Yount, son of Joseph Yount, son of Abraham Yount, son of Jacob Yount who stayed in PA. (Information from Mary Frances Smith) but I doubt this was the one. The other was the son of John Yount and Anna Pope, son of the above Abraham Yount. This Sidney was born about 1847 according to the 1860 census. He is probably the Sidney A. Yount, age 40, who married Laura Bolch 15 Jan 1888. His parents were listed as John and Anna Yount, and her parents as Joseph and Mahala Bolch. This Sidney appears to be the one buried at Bethlehem Methodist Church in Claremont. He died Sept 14, 1909, age 60. His wife is apparently buried elsewhere. Best Regards, Ray ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
