Greetings Everyone: Once again I am stuck in the Frederick Wise Manuscript! I have the following: Prior Sylvanus Pasour b. 25 Aug 1859? d. 25 Nov 1945 M. 9 Sept 1880 Rebecca M. Carpenter b. 15 Oct 1861 d. 8 May 1932 dau of Jacob and Elizabeth Griffon Carpenter. Previous Info: Prior was son of Frances Carpenter, dau of George, and Eli/Levi Pasour, son of George and Elizabeth Wise Pasour. Fact: Prior's Marriage record in Gaston Co. list's his parents as Eph. Wise and Frances Pasour Which indicates he was a Base born son of his parents. Otherwise (if following the traditional pattern)parents would have been listed as a married couple. Previous Info: Frances Carpenter Pasour m. later to Ephriam Wise. I can not find any evidence of this, nor have the others. Frances Pasour remains Frances Pasour throught records. The Shocker: After Prior's marriage to Rebecca Carpenter he assumes the name Prior Sylvanus Carpenter and is forever known as such. His descendants also use the name Carpenter. Fact: George Pasour made no provision in his will for children of his son Eli/Levi who was reputedly killed in CW. Fact: Felix (son of George) Pasour had a daughter Frances b. 1842, somewhat younger than Frances Carpenter b. 1835. Her age is more consistant with the census data through 1880. She was age 16, living in the home of her Pasour grandparents 1860 (probably helping care for them. 1870 Frances Pasour age 30 is living in home of Phillip Pasour, another of George's sons) with her two sons, Prior S. age 11 and James age 9,Pasour. James is not found on later records. Anyone know what happened to him? If Frances was actually a Carpenter, m. Eli/Levi Pasour , had a son Prior by Eph Wise, who changed his name to Carpenter after marriage, Did George Carpenter make a provision in his Will or land division or otherwise acknowledge this? Talk about confusion! Then who was James' father? George Pasour made no provision for these two children as children of Eli/Levi. I need to know if these two sons are actually a part of the Pasour/Wise family. If Prior was son of Eph Wise he would be, but under Eph's lineage.... HELP ANYONE!!!!!
