I spoke with Darrell Harkey, Lincoln County Historical Coordinator, he said that it was the Old Iron Master house that is being demolished. He said that it had burned several times and there was not enough of the building left to renovate. The Jacob Forney home is still standing. I have never been out to the Old Iron Master house so I am not an authority on the property. I am devoting my time to the Lincoln County Heritage Book Vol. II which has a deadline for September 30, 2003. I ;have been having computer problems, and have not followed this discussion. I wonder if you are discussing The White House in Maiden, which had the lovely twin chimneys. The Jenny Lind Forge is on the land. "The Last of the Iron Men" ("Newton Enterprise" 14 May 1897) was William W.Williams , born in Rockaway, New Jersay 14 November 1814, died Maiden 8 May 1897, and buried in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, NC. He was the son of William and Mary (Onstot) Williams. Wiliam W. Williams married Phoebe Wortman Wiggins 26 March 1835 in Morris County, NJ. I can send a great deal of rather interesting information if this is the house you mention. See: Newton Enterprise 26 May 1952, "Lewis White House East of Maiden Has Characteristics of Former Days". Mr. Williams bought the house from A. F. Brevard in 1860. The ;house was built in the 1790's by John Fulenwider. and operated an iron forge on the land... If this is any help, I have information on this house. If not, just delete!
