    3. I don't have an answer for Ray, but along the same lines I have a question about the Sigmon/Sigman clan. My mother-in-law at one time bought a piece of property that had belonged in 1869, to Henry Deal and his wife Rachel Setzer Sigmon. This Rachel had been first married, 26 Sep 1858, according to Catawba County Marriages "Revell Sigmon" with no parents listed for either. I am reading the extracts, not the originals, and know that errors abound. I cannot identify anyone named Revell among the heaps and mounds of Sigmon/Sigman's in Catawba Co. Rachel was the daughter of George Walter Setzer Sr. and Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Ward. Any one want to tackle this? If anyone cares for details I have the original deeds [not copies] to this land through many owners. The land physically sits near Emmanuel Lutheran Church. I can provide copies. 3. I think that "Revell" should be Reuben. John L. Setzer lists the following in his recent book: Jacob I-John I-George I-RACHEL E. SETZER was born 13 June 1833, died 24 September 1912, and is buried in Friendship Methodist Church cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, NC. She and her first husband, Reuben Sigmon, were married 26 September 1858 in Catawba County, NC. Reuben was born about 1840, and died 17 September 1862 . Their known children were Bettie, Frank, and Mary. Reference: 1880 Catawba County, NC, census. Reuben was a member of Company K, 46th Regiment, N. C. Troops, CSA. In A ROSTER NORTH CAROLINA TROOPS 1861-1865, Volume XI, Page 237, an article reads "SIGMAN, REUBEN, Private - Born in Catawba County where he resided as a carpenter prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 21, March 13, 1862. Present or accounted for until killed at Sharpsburg, Maryland, September 17, 1862." --Derick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Agnes" <agnesec@cableone.net> To: <CATAWBA-WEST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 10:15 AM Subject: [CATAWBA-WEST] Re: CATAWBA-WEST-D Digest V04 #9 > I don't have an answer for Ray, but along the same lines I have a question > about the Sigmon/Sigman clan. > My mother-in-law at one time bought a piece of property that had belonged in > 1869, to Henry Deal and his wife Rachel Setzer Sigmon.
