In the Catawba County marriage abstracts book, 1842-1900, there is a marriage for David E. Sigmon and Sarah A. Hartsoge dated 14 Dec 1868. David E.'s partents are given as Eli and Mary. I have been unable to find any other reference to an Eli (Elijah, Elias, etc) and Mary Sigmon in the correct time frame. Does anyone know of an Eli Sigmon who had a wife Mary or Polly? Could the abstracter have made a mistake with either or both of David's parents being wrong? Sarah's parents were given as Eli and Sally Hartsoge. David E. (middle name thiught to have been Eli) does not fit into the Eli and Elizabeth Settlemire Sigmon, the Eli and Anna Smith Sigmon, or the Eli and Rhoda Bost Sigmon families. Does anyone know the wife of the Eli Sigmon, son of Barnet and Polly Fry Sigmon, who is said to have gone to Arkansas? Was he single or married when he left?
