Folks, I just picked up a book today and was skimming through it. I came across the name Jacob Yoder c.1726-1790 in Pennsylvania. I also found the names and pictures of Samuel J 1842-1924 and Barbara Yoder Miller 1842-1923. I know I have seen these names on this list and also associated with my Dietz line. Name of the book is A History of The Amish. Hope this helps someone. Debbie Burk-Whitfield
No, these are not the Yoders of Catawba County, NC, The family of Conrad Yoder are tied to the Yoders of Oley Township, Berks County, PA, The direct ancestors of Conrad Yoder are believed to be from Steffisburg, Switzerland. Conrad was not born there, but his father or grandfather is believed to have come from Steffisburg, Canton Bern, Switzerland. There is an article in our last Catawba Cousins about people on the ship with Conrad Yoder that may be of interest to you. Conrad made a number of trips from what would become Catawba County to family in Oley Township, Berks County, PA. Heinrich Whitener, Michael Whitener, and Daniel Warlick also came from Oley Township Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: <AngelfetGM@aol.com> To: <CATAWBA-WEST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 30, 2004 7:54 PM Subject: [CATAWBA-WEST] Yoder > Folks, > I just picked up a book today and was skimming through it.
