Jerry, I found on the web a 20 pg. book written by Miles O. Sherrill "A Soldier's Story" The URL http://metalab.unc.edu/docsouth/sherrill/sherrill.html . He mentions the names of J. U. Long, Nicholas Sherrill and W. P. Sherrill. I was delighted to find this book when I did a search on the name Sherrill. I have a Sherrill line.
