I posted a message a while back looking for information on Frank L. Matthews, Jr. His father was Frank L. Matthews, Sr., m. Fannie Ella Sigman. Franks, Sr.'s parents were Jonas and Candace (Pope) Matthews. Jonas' parents were Levi and Melinda (?) Mathis. Candace's parents were William and Susan (?) Pope. Right now I am looking for information on Levi and Melinda. I have found Levi and Melinda with family in the 1850 Catawba County census, but I have been unable to find where they are buried. Their daughter, Elizabeth A., Jonas and Candace are buried at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont, however I can not find Levi and Melinda. They are not listed in the cemetery index, but it is easy to imagine that they are buried at Bethel sans a headstone. Looking for any information. I have hit a brickwall, and looking for any possible leads. I am willing to share my information. I am hoping their are some new people on the list that may be looking for the same information.
