In 1840 James Epps with wife and children were living in the part of Lincoln County that is now Catawba Co., His son John Later married Ellen Deal daughter of David Franklin Deal and Delilah Longcryer. The wife of James Epps has been shown as Polly, or Mary, or Dollie Deal, no parents know for either. Does anyone on this forum know these people, who their children were and if any of them have descendants now living. John Epps moved to Lincolnton after all his children were born and died there Jan 1916, his wife Ellen Pernina Deal died Nov 1934 also in Lincolnton. In 1880 in Catawba county the family have in the household an older woman named Mary Setzer - identity unknown. Does anyone know whom she might be? I am researching this family along with two other Epps descendants and we find James Epps to be rather elusive. Even the smallest of clues will be welcome. Agnes Cloninger
