We often read of restrictions being placed on access to public records by elected officials. Lisa Lail, candidate for the Catawba County Register of Deeds has included the following in her campaign flyer: "PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC RECORDS FOR FUTURE GENEALOGY RESEARCH Citizens research documents on a daily basis to trace family records. It must be made a priority to preserve these public records for future genealogy research". This is not an endorsement of the candidate, just an observation. --Derick
