Does anyone have the email address of Rev. Monte & Noma Wike? --Derick
In response to several queries, I have put the following together: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawb/family/JacobSetzerJr-2d.pdf This is a 2-generation report on Jacob Setzer, Jr. (son of Jacob Jr. and Mary Magdalene Bovey/Poovey) and Mariah Elizabeth Hildebrand. She may be the sister of John (1755-1857). That's just a personal observation. Much of the credit goes to Wayne Lee Setzer and Lorena Eaker and many others whom I have documented. --Derick ----- Original Message ----- From: <SetzerAncestry@aol.com> To: <NCLINCOL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2004 10:00 AM Subject: [NCLINCOLN] Re: Treffelstet/Setzer > My information shows that Jacob Setzer's mother was Mariah Elizabeth > Hildebrand. Oscar Dellinger-b. 1882 d. 1966 Caldwell County-Lived in John's River Twsp. M.1st Minnie Dellinger-m.2nd Annie ? Had at least 5 children, one of which was Clarence Dellinger. Clarence m. Lucy ? and lived in Wilson Creek section of Caldwell County. I am trying to tie Oscar Dellinger to the Henry Dellinger-Kathrine Setzer family of Avery County. Oscar's death record, Caldwell County, states his mother was Margaret Ann Coffey, his father not stated. Does anyone have any information i can use? Thanks for listening! Charles Lail Catawba County
Dear friends, Since having the time to do what I love best (researching and writing web pages) I am currently in the process of re-doing the Catawba County NCGenWeb page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawb/index.htm. This includes 2,400+ pages so y'all know what I'll be doing for a while. Bells and whistles (if any) will come after the basic page updates are completed. The tabulations column began to look like the "English Book of Common Prayer" so an easier way to navigate was needed. Bear with me but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) people would rather drill down rather than search a long list. If this page loads too slowly or the colors aren't quite right, please let me know. I have only my screen to go by. When Catawba is 'fixed' I'll get on Burke County. --Derick
In 1836, James Pinckney Henderson returned to Lincolnton (his home town) and ask for Volunteers to join the Texas Army. Besides the Army pay, they were to receive Bounty Warrents for 1280 acres after serving their term of enlistment of one year. My ancestor, John Hutchinson Harry raised a company of men from this area to go to Texas. Captain John H. Harry left NC with 77 men. He traveled to Nashville, TN then to New Orleans, then by boat to Texas. Only 64 men sailed from New Orleans, so along the way, he lost 13 men. (Probably both death and desertion). I have located 37 men so far who joined the Army of Texas at Lincolnton, Lincoln Co. NC in October 1836. Are any of these men members of your family you been looking for? Yes, it is the Daniel Kahill home. Daniel Kahill bought the house from a descendant of Capt. :John Dellinger. I have a research article in the "Catawba Cousins", Volume 16:1, June 2001. . You might find this of interest. Kathy Sullivan has traced the property back in time. Of great interest to me, was that Danile Kahill married a Mull, so the property has always been owned by a descendant of the Mull family. Hi folks, The Catawba County NCGenWeb pages have been re-done. At one time, the Catawba County NCGenWeb Page was a catch-all for surnames, Black Heritage, Military History, cities and towns, county geography, etc., queries, were all lumped together. Since the entire genealogical resource spectrum seems to be evolving, I thought it was time to make Catawba County easier to navigate and maintain as well as more informative. As of today, January 19, 2004, the Catawba County NCGenWeb Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawb/ has spawned the following free-standing web pages: Catawba County Black Heritage Project - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatab/ Catawba County NC Military Project - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccatawm/ Catawba County City Project-Conover - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccconov/ Catawba County City Project-Maiden - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccmaide/ --Derick

I don't have an answer for Ray, but along the same lines I have a question about the Sigmon/Sigman clan. My mother-in-law at one time bought a piece of property that had belonged in 1869, to Henry Deal and his wife Rachel Setzer Sigmon. This Rachel had been first married, 26 Sep 1858, according to Catawba County Marriages "Revell Sigmon" with no parents listed for either. I am reading the extracts, not the originals, and know that errors abound. I cannot identify anyone named Revell among the heaps and mounds of Sigmon/Sigman's in Catawba Co. Rachel was the daughter of George Walter Setzer Sr. and Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Ward. Any one want to tackle this? If anyone cares for details I have the original deeds [not copies] to this land through many owners. The land physically sits near Emmanuel Lutheran Church. I can provide copies. >From the Catawba, Iredell and Lincoln counties area, have been looking for ancestry of Henry E. Robinson who emigrated to Greene Co., AR, abt. 186-63 with his second wife Christena Shupping and their children. One oral history contend his father to be a James, son of an Isaac Robinson. One other oral history has Henry E.'s first wife as being Nancy Ward. Henry and Christena and their family are listed in Iredell Co. on both 1850 and 1860 census'. In the Catawba County marriage abstracts book, 1842-1900, there is a marriage for David E. Sigmon and Sarah A. Hartsoge dated 14 Dec 1868. David E.'s partents are given as Eli and Mary. I have been unable to find any other reference to an Eli (Elijah, Elias, etc) and Mary Sigmon in the correct time frame. Does anyone know of an Eli Sigmon who had a wife Mary or Polly? Could the abstracter have made a mistake with either or both of David's parents being wrong? Sarah's parents were given as Eli and Sally Hartsoge. David E. (middle name thiught to have been Eli) does not fit into the Eli and Elizabeth Settlemire Sigmon, the Eli and Anna Smith Sigmon, or the Eli and Rhoda Bost Sigmon families. Does anyone know the wife of the Eli Sigmon, son of Barnet and Polly Fry Sigmon, who is said to have gone to Arkansas? Was he single or married when he left?
