All Those Years My friend Debbies two daughters were in high school when she experienced severe flu-like symptoms. Debbie visited her family doctor, who told her the flu bug had passed her by. Instead, she had been touched by the "love bug" and was now pregnant. The birth of Tommy, a healthy, beautiful son, was an event for celebration, and as time went by, it seemed as though every day brought another reason to celebrate the gift of Tommys life. He was sweet, thoughtful, fun-loving and a joy to be around. One day when Tommy was about five years old, he and Debbie were driving to the neighborhood mall. As is the way with children, out of nowhere, Tommy asked, "Mom, how old were you when I was born?" "Thirty-six, Tommy. Why?" Debbie asked, wondering what his little mind was contemplating. "What a shame!" Tommy responded. "What do you mean?" Debbie inquired, more than a little puzzled. Looking at her with love-filled eyes, Tommy said, "Just think of all those years we didnt know each other." by Alice Collins from Chicken Soup for the Mothers Soul Copyright 1997 by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Jennifer Read Hawthorne and Marci Shimoff
Mr. Henry F. RITCHIE was born in Sherrill's Ford NC in 1893, lived in Mooresville, NC, and moved to Orlando, Fla. when he married a second time to my grandmother, Mary Ethel Whitener Baker who came from Catawba Co. He died in Orlando in 1960, and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando in our family plot. He left a daughter Helen RITCHIE, and sons Glenn of Akron OH, Virgil of Hampton VA, and Robert of London, England, a sister Mrs.Cora GUARD of Poplar Branch, NC, and six grandchildren and one grandchild. I have an envelope of personal papers of Mr. Ritchie which I would be happy to mail to a descendant of his, but I don't know where to reach any of them. Let me know if anyone does. Gene in Gotha
Gene and everyone, I am interested in Mathias' family as well. His sister, Anna Catherina Beringer, married my 7th great-grand uncle, Christianus Abendschon, and they had seven children. I'd be interested in finding decendants of Anna's and her siblings, to bring my data up to date. Looking for the name of the wife of Jacob J Forney.
Looking for any leads on the birth of Frederick William Dietz's children. Oral history said his son, John Thomas was born in 1819. Has him in NC. I can't find any proof. I found Frederick William in the 1820 census in Humphrey's Co. TN. Do any of the other Dietz know anything on this member of the family? By the time the Deets got to TN they were spelling our name Deats and Deets. My grandmother is a Deets. DJ

Need the names of the children of Marcus Forney, Burke Co.
Pat Is this the John Wilfong who married Sue Abernathy 6 Sep 1859? Such a couple are living with the family of the widow Abernathy in 1860 BUT there are is another couple, John M and Susan Wilfong living with John Wilfong and the other members of the Wilfong family named below. Sometimes people were listed twice in the same census, In the 1850 census of Catawba Co. on page 334 there is a Wilfong family John Wilfong age 36, Louise age 40, Henry 20, Martha 17, Vardy age 18, JOHN M age 12, Yancy H age 9, Sidney age 6, Charlie age 5 and Quincy A. age 1.All born Catawba Co. This family is well to do with a valuation of $18,000, in 1860 they are still wealthy. In the 1850 census of Catawba County on page 308 there is another Wilfong family with an 11 year old son named John.THIS ONE APPEARS AT HOME UNMARRIED IN 1860 David Wilfong age possibly 80 with Catherine age 21, Sarah Ann age 14 and JOHN age 11 all born Catawba County. I recall that there is a paper in the Catawba County Genealogical Society Room in the Newton Library concerning the Wilfong family, but it has been a few years since I saw it, so my memory may have failed me, and it could have been Whitner. Does Mrs. Drum know anything else about the family that might be helpful in untangling this information? Agnes Cloninger ____________________ >From: "Pat C.
