If this house is on the local or National Register, there would be a time period before demolition. Mr. Darrell Harkey is in charge of the local historic preservation commission in Lincoln County. He should be contacted. I am a native of Catawba County and now I am the Historic Preservation Planner for Greenville, NC. This is a most unfortunate situation. Does anyone happen to know if a 365-day stay of demolition has already expired? On historic builings they can be subject to a 365-day stay of demolition if it is a Local Landmark, so that concerned citizens or the local Historic Preservation Commission or Historical Society can pull together resources to stop the demolition. Possible alternative would be to see if the house could be moved to a new location. I would check with the Lincoln County Historical Society if there is one. Try to get the media involved so that the public will become aware of the situation. There may be someone out to help. In the end, the owner can demolish the property. Hope this helps. Hi everyone: There are 163 posting in rootsweb archives showing http://members.aol.com/~lctdugan/ which is now a dead link because that little squiggle "~" before lctdugan/ is no longer honored by AOL so that link goes to a "404 Error -- Resource Not Found" I am abandoning that URL also abandoning the email address: lctdugan@aol.com Please use mailto:lonn@lonnd.com for email ( LONN@LONND.COM ) Please use http://www.lonnd.com/tdugan/ for genealogy interest ( LONND.COM/TDUGAN/ For interest in George Slater THOMAS and wife Catherine ?Ingle? THOMAS of VA and TN see http://www.lonnd.com/tdugan/vacourts.html#gsthomas My maternal line is WALKER. Have Interest in THOMASes who returned to KY and southwestern VA after the F&I Wars. Philip and Henry THOMAS may have departed from Cumberland or Bedford County PA area in late 1730's or early 1740's, but we haven't found them. Maybe one sighting of Philip and some unknown THOMASes in the Early Religious Petitions in Virginia. Family lore tells more than we can document. Need document for parents of George "Slater" and Catherine ?Ingle THOMAS Interested also in INGLES about any way you want to spell it -- in Montgomery County Virginia early on. We do not presently know of any connection to William or Mary DRAPER INGLES of Ingles Ferry, but have several Henry INGLES in the area and would like to know whose family they are in. See http://www.lonnd.com/tdugan/vacourts.html#wmingle for William Daniel INGLE and Mary HANCOCK INGLE born circa 1745 with descendants. Some of this line goes through Buckingham County and it seems there are few or no actual records to support the family lore. Any Buckingham reconstruction or other information, however derived, is welcomed. Basically we are in trouble with THOMASes and INGLES before 1800. Not well documented before then. We especially need documents for Elijah INGLE as shown below. I am in desperate need of some help on my HAHN line. I have: John Hahn b. before 1780, son of John and Rosina Neigh Hahn, d. in Clarke Co., IN and is suposed to have married a Hildebrand. I think I saw in my Hildebrand Files recently that Hildebrand girl, but (having a senior moment) the location of that file escapes me. At the time I never dreamed I would need it again! Do you have the Hildebrand girl's name and parents? I probably could look forever and not find it again! John Hahn, son of Benedict b. 10 Feb 1774 LCNC, died 1846, Cape Girardeau Co., MO. He first married ca 1799 in Lincoln Co. (no surviving MB). to Catherine _______. Her maiden name not included in the Bible Record on that family. She died Dec 1805 in MO in childbirth. He married 2nd Feb. 1806 to Elizabeth Slinkard in MO. I desperately need to find Catherine's maiden name. I'm helping someone in St. Louis compile Hahn records for a book and am having to start from scratch on this family. I'm looking for anything in legal records, Bible records, family records, etc. that would help prove theses connections. John did not include his 2nd wife's name in the Bible, but she appears on land records, etc. with him and the marrriage is recorded. If you are missing a Catherine, then maybe I have her. If you have a missing Hildebrand daughter, maybe I have her husband! I'll be quite happy to exchange! Thanks much, Lorena
Thanks to several who sent me some directions to Macklins" Creek. I found a McLin Creek just east of Conover which empties into Lyle Creek near the town of Catawba. This Delorme map that I have--North Carolina Atlas and Gazatteer--a 2001 copy--is great. However, they many times misspell the local places. Did they spell McLin and Lyle correctly?? Thanks. Ida Deal
Greetings all-- The Fry/Frye reunion will be held at the Maiden Community Center, August 3, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Bring pictures, food and fun. We'll supply the paper plates and the tea! And of course bring somebody who's a Fry, kin to a Frye or just knows a Frye. --melanie collins

I recently acquired an 1850 family Bible which belonged to Daniel Ramsaur (1806-1874) who married Frances A. Shuford Doggett, daughter of Phillip Shuford (1781-1859) and Anna Abernethy. The Bible includes a lot of birth and death dates as well as marriage dates on a number of members of the Shuford and Ramsaur families. As nearly as I can determine, it passed from Daniel through his daughter, May Ramsaur Rollins, with the last entry dates being recorded about 1940. Daniel was the son of John Ramsour and Elizabeth Hedick and a grandson of David Ramsour and Maria Magdalina Warlick. David Shuford dwshuford@aol.com
