Just to let all of you know we made it through our 6th hurricane in the seven and a half years we have lived here. I got a mess to clean up in the yard but we are fortunate. We were on the east side of it this time. The winds weren't as bad. The rain was not as bad either. A lot of folks in the southern parts of the county, Harlowe, were not so fortunate. They lost homes from flooding. Many of these homes belonged to Marines that had just returned from Iraq. When we first moved here, I wanted to get near the water. After all the flooding from hurricanes I am glad we didn't. We live about 3/4 of a mile from the Neuse. That's close enough. Rick Lail 2500 Street's Ferry Road Vanceboro, NC 28586

Elias is a son of Michael and grandson of Sebastian. Is this correct? Nextdoor is family #894 which is listed as: Margaret BOLCH 38, Barbery 34, Mahala 33. I think I have seen Margaret and Barbery listed as sisters of Elias. Who is Mahala? Any help appreciated. Ida Deal

I can't place this Casper. If I back up to the 1820 census then the only folks who have a son who could be 21 are: Adam Jr., Casper, Godfrey, and Jacob Jr. Since Jacob left a will naming his children we know that his youngest son was named Jacob. Does anyone know if this Casper is a son of Adam Jr., Casper or Godfrey?? A site on Ancestry.com has Casper as a son of Godfrey--but also has Casper born in 1788 and says he was a private in the Rev war--so who can trust that kind of wonderful data. Anyone have this Casper in your data? Thanks Ida Deal

One of our first settlers was from Peterlingen. Can someone remember who it was? On a hand-written deed or record at the North Carolina Archives is a mention of _________ from Peterlingen. I would be grateful for any help. Anne

Ephraim could be the brother of your Absolom, but I have no list of Ephraim's siblings. Ephriam was living in Arkansas when the estate of his wife's brother was settled in 1872. I know that the parents of Ephraim were Thomas Brown and Elizabeth Ann Dalworth. Elizabeth was still living in 1850, and is age 75, so she could easily have been the parent of your Absolom. If this strikes a note, please contact me privately, I have the name and address of another Brown researcher. I made a mistake when typing Absalom Brown's birth date, it should have been 1792. Any and all help appreciated. Shirley

The administrators are Peter LITTLE and William DEAL. Money was owed to "widow ROSAMON" and also to "John DEAL and his wife Rosina DEAL". Is this George DEAL a son of the immigrant Wilhelm DIEHL?? Was the wife Elizabeth also a ROSEMAN? Your thoughts appreciated. Ida Deal

Here is a list of names that appear in the estate papers: Huffman, Smyre, Link, Hunsucker, Shell, Holler, Yount, Herman, Summerrow, Rockett, McCorkle, Bandy, Smith, Cline, Baker, Parker, Abernethy.
