name: Doris Wheeler email: doriswheeler@worldnet.att.net message: Thanks to all the wonderful help of many genealogy fans out there, I have my husband's Caswells back to Hopkinton, Rhode Island in about 1800. Our Allen CASWELL was probably born there around 1775 (I believe his father was William). Allen's son, Anthony, was b. 23 Dec 1796 in Hopkinton, lived for a while in Connecticut, moved on for a brief stay in Charleston, SC, then on to Schenectady, NY where he worked on construction of the Erie Canal. He settled in Hinsdale (Ischua), Cattaraugus County, NY in 1825, married Sally LOCKWOOD in 1829, raised a large family and d. in Ischua 29 Apr 1871. I am trying to find Allen's wife and firm information about his parents and other ancestors. His wife's name was Elizabeth in his will, but I don't know if she was Anthony's mother who may have been a daughter of Roger Sherman, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Thank you for any information. Advice and counsel gladly welcomed! And, of course, I'm always glad to share. Doris
