My husband is named Silas and he also had an uncle and a great uncle Silas. Silas' great grandfather was from MA. He ended up in Georgia. Then some moved to Texas. There are relatives in other places also. Ben had a sister named Alma and she married a Page. We do not know for certain who Ben's father was and we know nothing about his mother. She died when he was a young boy and that's all that we know. Some of Silas (my husband's) relatives moved out to California and there were some listed in earlier years in NC from my husband's direct line. Some also lived in Alabama. Donnora, I have not tried to get in to it lately. Where are your Caswells from? I think most of mine are in PA, but I am having a really hard time. I do believe someone once used the name of Silas. Any chances of this being your husband? In this line, I have come across Caswell, Williams, Lord, Baumgarten... Thank you for any and all help, Joyce Baumgarten
Has anybody come across a Herbert A. Caswell born in Rehoboth, Massachusetts sometime around 1850 or 60? He married (?) Mary White who may have been a Narragansett Indian. Their son, Irving Ellsworth Caswell was born in Attleboro in 1883. Irving died in 1924. I found a Herbert A. Caswell born in Maine in 1842 which would work, but Irving's death certificate says that Herbert was born in Rehoboth. The MAINE Herbert A. Caswell's father was Alanson B. Caswell. I'm finding two Alanson Caswells in Maine. One is in the Levi Caswell--Job Caswell line, and the other one's parents are Simeon Caswell and Rachael Staples. I"m awaiting a few documents which will hopefully clear some of this up, but I thought if anybody has any of these Caswells in their research, I can at least figure out which ones don't work. Thanks! Judy Caswell P. S. Thanks for your suggestion, Donnora, but I fired up Netscape, and it still doesn't work. No matter what line I click on, I just keep getting my own Myfamily. page and the only options it shows for tree viewing are the ones that I put there. But thanks for the thought!
I am wondering if some of you are having problems because of your browser. I have been able to get into this site and all of the pages ok and I use Netscape. Just a thought. Thanks to Mike for making this site available to us - I now have direct access to the 'CASSWELLS of LINCOLNSHIRE' Gedcom file which is my particular area of interest, together with a 'view only option' and 'Gedcom download' for the others. I see that this site has a 'filing cabinet' facility into which I have deposited my updated 'CASSWELL VILLAGE LISTINGS for LINCOLNSHIRE' file (which includes strays in other Counties). I also like the 'Members / address book' which allows comments to be added - I have utilised this to display my 'CASSWELL Interests' re locations and dates for the UK etc. The whole site seems very user friendly indeed I think I will float the idea of creating similar pages for some of my other lines, with my fellow researchers. One last point. I wonder if this site could be used specifically to display end-of-lines re our respective 'Caswell' dead-ends comprising say the last couple of generations of each - perhaps in a designated Gedcom file?
