    2. Hi Kathy, The only connection I found was the parents of Mercy Lincoln who married your William Caswell. I have Caswells but do not have William connected to any parents in my file. According to what I have, taken from the History of Hingham, MA, Mercy is the daughter of Thomas Lincoln and Mary (Austin??). This family started in Hingham with the other Lincolns then went to Bristol County. The father of Thomas is also named Thomas Lincoln - one of several who settled in Hingham. I descend from Daniel Lincoln. Good luck, Donna Potter in RI

    3. Bristol County is where our Benjamin Franklin Caswell is from. We have not ever been able to find out any information about his father or sisters. We have it that his father was Thomas and that he had some sisters but do not know their names. Benjamin was born May 22 or 28, 1828. There have been a few that have said that they have information about him and will send it to us but we have not ever gotten past that. We have asked several times for them to please send us that information to no avail. So if anyone has anything that might help to place Ben in a family please let us know. Thanks. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [CASWELL list] Caswells of Indiana and Michigan >Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2001 11:58:48 EST > >Hi Kathy, > The only connection I found was the parents of Mercy Lincoln who >married >your William Caswell. 3. Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has information on my Caswell line. Benjamin Caswell was born about 1796 in Stanstead County, Quebec. His parents were Ezra Caswell born 23 Sep 1766 in Orford, NH. Have no info on his death. Mother was Lydia Whitcomb born 01 Jan 1772 in Putney, VT. Died 20 Dec 1843 in Derby, VT. So my Benjamin's lineage is: Ezra Caswell and Lydia Whitcomb Nathan Caswell and Hannah Bingham Nathan Caswell and Hannah Shaw Daniel Caswell and Mary ? Thomas Caswell and Mary Ramsdell Thomas Caswell and Mary ? The above information came indirectly from George Sanborn about 10 years ago. I don't have documentation for it. Would like to connect with George if he is available. I'm interested in connecting with any cousins. Would like to know what happened to Ezra Caswell. Anyone else out there descended from Ezra and Lydia Whitcomb? Thanks for any help. 3. No one has actually ever given me a tree of the 'Shirley Mayse' line of Canadian Caswells, so if you have one, I'd love a copy. I did scan and OCR EVERY page of SHirley Mayse' book, Our Caswell Relatives, which is on the CASWELL CD, and after that (576 pages) I couldn't ever pluck up the courage to transcribe her line into a database to make a gedcom file. Some one else will have to do it!!!!! HINT!! HINT!!!! I've forwarded your email to the Caswell list, as I do know there are several people on it who are researching this line! You have my Grandparents Cecil & Valdine Caswell, their children Valerie, Melvin and Heather and their spouses but not their children (my generation and our children). Is this site still being worked on and will it contain newer generations so to speak? I have heard that you also have people's addresses, phone numbers and such on your website but I have not seen anything like this. Actually having such information could be handy in gathering information or searching information but it would have it's downfalls too. I too dabble a little in family history and have abit since High School. I even purchased Shirley Mayse's book, of which I am listed in. I have even created a website to try to gather information from my family as well, but to date that has not gone over well probably because there still is alot of people who do not have computers. I have had help from a relative in nearby Moose Jaw to re-gain my data base which was lost which was really wonderful of him to help in out. Working full-time and now a single parent with a 7 year old and maintaining our home does not leave much time to work on family history but I am trying to compile photographs into my Family Tree Maker and keep up with current history as it happens. Keep up the good work and I will visit your site often, Denise Fuchs daughter of Valerie Jean Caswell and Fredrick Fuchs reside: Saskatchewan, Canada

    3. Dear List Members--I am seeking information about Elizabeth (Betty) Carswell (or Caswell?), who married James Godfrey of Northwood NH on Oct 25 1781.According to the information I have, she was born in 1761 (possibly in Northwood) and died 9 Aug 1848 in Fitzwilliam, Cheshire County, NH. Her father is said to be Timothy Carswell. I have not been able to find out anything about her mother, or anything more about her father Timothy. There was a Thomas Carswell, and also a Joseph Caswell, in Northwood during this time. There was also a Timothy, I believe, in Rye NH at the time. But I have not been able to link them to each other or to Elizabeth, and would appreciate any information that might help me with that. I do have information about her husband James Godfrey, and about their children, most of whom were raised in Vershire, Orange County, Vermont, and would be happy to share that with any one who is interested. Thanks, Michele Stepto

    3. Hi everyone, Starting at 8 a.m. U.S. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will be down for a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. This means that all the lists may be down as well. So, don't get concerned if you get very few or no messages at all. Rootsweb doesn't give a period of time this will last, but does say it will limit the downtime as much as possible. You might do well to expect this period to run into Friday evening for those of you on the U.S. east coast, and possibly into Saturday if you're outside the U.S. Nancy (Caswell) Simpson MAGenExchange: http://www.genexchange.org/state.cfm?state=ma State Coordinator CTGenexchange - Windham County County Coordinator http://www.genexchange.org/state.cfm?state=ct Be a volunteer- share your knowledge http://www.genexchange.org/volunteering.cfm Southern New England Ghost Hunters Society http://www.atlanticghost.itgo.com/sne.html Visit the Caswell Cafe http://www.acmecity.com/flintstones/hoppy/183 _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    3. Judy, I have Elijah and Eunice but didn't have all their children. Did you get the children's info from the census also? Just like to be sure I have the sources for future reference. Unfortunately I haven't connected them to any parents yet. I got my info from the Middleboro town hall. Harriet B(ates) was b. Middleboro 31 Aug 1843 Edward A. b. 2 Jan 1845 in Middleboro I hope this helps a little! So I researched a little...here's what I found. Ebenezer Sr. was born in Middleborough in 1732, d. on July 19, 1806. Ebenezer Sr. married Zibia White on 20 October 1755, This is documented in a "private record, from the marriage records of three Justices of the Peace, James Williams, his son Brig. Gen. James Williams, and his son Alfred Williams, 1737 to 1837, in the possession of the Old Colony Historical Society of Taunton." Zibia White was born on 10 June 1735 in Middleborough and died on 7 June 1804. Ebenezer Jr. was born to them on Nov. 30, 1763 in Taunton and died on Apr. 20, 1836. He was married to Anna (King-I think, I can't find the record for this, would have to go looking again). They were married on October 14, 1792. Listed children are: Ebenezer Caswell Mar. 1, 1793 Samuel K. Caswell 4 April 1795 Lois Caswell 14 February 1798 Francis Caswell 31 May 1800 Julia Caswell either 22 January 1804 or 5 October 1806. I'm still looking for ancestors of Elijah Caswell (who married Eunice Hall). He isn't listed here at all. It was just wishful thinking on my part. Hope some of this helps. I never thought about him being adopted. Makes you wonder about why and what happened to his parents. He was married in Cincinati in 1822. One source I have seen shows their daughter Margaret Indiana Caswell being born in Lawerenceburg, Deaborn County Indiana and another shows her being born in Boston. She married Joseph Adams Hall from Boston. Thank you again for the information and I will join the Ohio list. At some point they all moved to New Orleans and Daniel and Mary died there. Margaret remarried after the death of Joepsh and died in Pike Co. MS I wonder if there would be something in the probate records that might indicate the reason for the adoption. Next time I get to Hartford I'll take a look. I tried to go last week and there was so much snow there was no place to park! Even the garage I go to as a last resort was full! Item #1113050240 This card is totally politically incorrect now, but back in the early 1900s, fishing was fishing and this guy is happy to have caught Flipper! Card says that this is Capt. Wallace B. Caswell of Miss Florida II. Card is in good condition. Pencil writting under picture and on the back. Never mailed. We ask .75 to mail.

    3. ----Original Message Follows---- From: Delores Tousinau <[email protected]> I am looking for information on Daneil Julius Caswell who married Mary Bankhead Wilson in Ohio May 1822. I think he ws born in Kent CT in 1791. They lived in Indiana for a while and moved to New Orleans LA, where they both died. One thing I found showed his father being Daniel Johnson and grandfather Moses Johnson of Linchfield Co Connecticut. I don't want to chase down the Johnson line if this is not his family. ------------------------- Okay Delores this is what is recorded in the Kent, Litchfield County, CT town records vol 2 p.218 & 1/2 CASWELL, Daniel J., s. Daniel & Currance Johnson b. Jan. 31, 1791; in Feb. 1795 was adopted by Julius Caswell & w. Amy for the marriage record, do you at least have a county in OH? I might be able to get you more info there. I would subscribe to the OH-Rooters list they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, someone there can more than likely find something for you.
