Hello Pat, There are more Ulrich's than I could hope to count, and bunches of variants of "John". There were only 4 named Magdalene. There were no hits for a John or Magdalene in 1870. I decided to try to isolate the possibilities by tracing the 4 Magdalene's. These are the results: (1) A 22-year old came over in 1853 with no other Ulrich's on the ship. (2) A 26-year old traveling with 3 other Ulrich's. They arrived in 1852. They were all from Hessen and there was no John. (3) A 20-year old with 9 other Ulrich's. They all came from France. There was no John and no arrival date listed.
