Hi Cynthia, I always make sure to post to the list(s). I figure that if I am going to look up the info, it should be of use to as many people as possible. Also, people requesting lookups need to get their surnames seen by as many individuals as possible. Sandra in Oregon >From Germans to America 1850-1874 CD: Passenger's Name: Ferd. Sandra in Oregon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cynthia Z. Pardon me for writing to you directly, but I wanted to know what CDs you had, and if you see a potential match, ask you please for some look-ups. To me, my information seemed at little long and burdensome for a simple list posting, so I put it in this letter. I hope you don't mind. I have dug and dug through Ellis for my great grandparents, and only found one set, despite trying about every way to spell their Polish names! There are two other sets of great grandparents that I have had no leads on, as to when/where they came in, and any corresponding info which might provide leads as to where they came from. First and foremost, I am looking for my maternal great grandparents, Stanley Orluski/Orlowski/Orlowskie/etc, his wife Elzbetha Lahovitz/Lachowicz/Liachowitz/etc and Stanley's mother Agnes Orluski/Orlowski/Orlowskie/etc. According to the Federal Census information I have found, all records state the three Immigrated in 1888. I don't know what port or from where, other then Polish Russia. I have found death dates for Stanley & Elizabeth and there was no additional information, unfortunately. They lived their entire lives, to the best of my knowledge, in Northumberland County, PA. Elzbeth COULD have had the surname Orluski/Orlowski/Orlowskie/etc when she arrived, as their marriage date is consistent in records as 1888 as well. As for the other set, well my paternal great grandfather, Josef Zarnowski arrived 1888 and the woman he married in Philadelphia PA, my great grandmother, Weronika Rupinska arrived at some time prior to 1895, when she married Josef. Again no one in the family has any clue as to where they came from or what port they entered into...I MIGHT have some clues as I have recently found out that Josef had at least one sister, Anna Zarnowski and MAY have had at least one brother named Julius Zarnowski. Weronika did have a brother who came to America first, my great aunt THINKS his name was Benjamin Rupinski but is not sure. Spellings I have seen for Weronika's surname include: Rupinksa, Rupinski, Rupienska, Ropinski. His death certificate states he was from Poland, as does hers, only my great aunt said Weronika lived within a day's travel or less from Warsaw. Weronika's daughter, my great aunt, said that she thinks Weronika came into NY or Philadelphia, but said all she remembers her momma saying that it was a very big city, so it could have been either, or any other port. If you find any of these surnames, or any variation of them, well I sure would appreciate it. Thank you Sandra! Sincerely, Cynthia Zarnoski McCathern
