I am looking for the Ship "Vanguard" which arrived Castle Gardens June 16-17, 1863 from Liverpool. James and Thomas LaViers were on board. I would like to get the Captain's name and see the whole passenger list. In Nov 1864 Jame's wife and three children, Margaret, John and Henry arrived. Barbara LaViers
Thank you 4 this info It does help some. I think they may have landed in RI????? if not in NYC.Thanks again Judi
Hi Judi, You certainly have a difficult surname on your hands. I checked both Germans to America CDs (covering 1850 thru 1888). I also checked The Wuerttemberg Emigration Index CD. Finally, I typed the surname into Ancestry.com and got a single hit: CALIFORNIA DEATHS 1940-97 Surname: Crane Given Name: Ida Middle Name: Sex: Female Birth Date: 10 Dec 1905 Death Date: 5 Nov 1984 Birth Place: California Death Place: Los Angeles Social Security #: 572285707 Mother's Maiden Name: Freyiuth Father's Surname: Treeweiler Don't know if this helps, but best of luck in your quest. Sandra, Thanks so much for the lookups. I'm afraid the ages are off, so Gramma is still among the missing as far as which ship she arrived on. But I do appreciate the time you spent. Lorraine Alippe Windy Gap Mt near Roanoke VA
Don, I think you'll find that all records of arriving immigrants during the 'fire' years were transferred to Ellis Island after it reopened and 'are' on the EIDB. Of course, some records are missing from the entire EIDB database and your people might be among the missing, as are mine. I've gone through as many manifests as I could find online, plus the appropriate year volumes of "Germans to America" and "Migration from the Russian Empire" (the actual books, not the CDs), and have still no clue to finding 2 sets of ggps who arrived in 1870 and 1878.
