    2. Riona MacBhranaigh
    3. Peter, Thank you very much for replying to my request. I don't think that this Catherine is my Luke Cranney's wife although I do think it is his brother John's wife. The Cranney name is not a common one in Ireland, especially spelled the way my family has spelled it. Luke Cranney's wife was Lucy (Hall) Cranney. She was born in 1839 so would have been 31 years old when they immigrated. They did have a child born in 1869 but she was a female named Mary and would have been less than a year old when they immigrated. You idea about Luke maybe working on the ship is one that I have not thought of. In Ireland he was a "saddler" and in America he is noted as a "harness maker", probably the same thing. I don't think he had experience working on a ship but his wife Lucy's father, John Hall, was a ships steward. In fact, he died at sea. Maybe Lucy told Luke how to work on a ship. They were quite poor and working on the ship would have secured his passage. I am going to go back and visit all the thousands of Ships Passenger site I've already been to, this time looking for a Cranney that worked on the ship. I have sometimes found his name spelled Cranny and Craney so I've been looking for all three spellings. Again, thank you very much for your help and your time looking for my g-g-grandfather. Have you considered the possibility that the Victoria Renter (age 23) who arrived on the same ship may have been who you are looking for? You would be surprised how far off spellings have been on individuals who turned out to be the right ones after all. 1. [CASTLE-GARDEN] Searching For CRANNEY, 1870
    2. Riona MacBhranaigh
    3. Good Afternoon List, I just today found that there was a Castle Garden List out there. I have been trying to find my g-grandfather's ship, or date, on every single ships list site out there. If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much. NAME: LUKE CRANNEY, left from Liverpool; lived in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland. He declared his intention to become naturalized in Albany, NY, April 1871 and naturalization was finalized Sept 1875. I have him in Newry, Ireland, July of 1869 because his daughter Mary was born there. His son, Luke G., was born in Albany December 1870. Based on this information I have been searching for ships from Liverpool to New York between July 1869 and Dec 1870. Besides a copy of the pages in the log books there is no other record on file. I have checked at the New York State Archives in Albany, NY and there is no certificate there. I was told that many records were destroyed in a fire. Does anyone know of a place where I can find out what ships left Liverpool to New York between July 1869 and December of 1870, and the passenger lists? Thank you ReginaGet more from the Web.
