They were married on 19 October 1865 in McLean Co., Illinois. The 1870 census for Allin Twp., McLean Co., Illinois shows two Castle Families: AUSTIN F. CASTLE, age 34, farmer, value of real property - $3200, value of personal property -$800, born Ohio CATHERINE A., age 27, keeping house, born Ohio MARTHA E., age 3, born Illinois 2 boarders, ages 14 & 9 are shown living with the family. _________________ Daniel Castle, age 40, farmer, , value of real property - $5000, value of personal property -$1300, born NY Emily, age 43, keeping house, born Ohio Samuel? B., age 3, born Illinois a 43 year old seamstress, Francis E. Wood, is shown living with them. _________________ The family of Austin's and Daniel's sister, Margaret: Joseph Green, age 33, farmer, born in England Margaret [sister of Castle brothers], age27, keeping house, born Ohio Julia A., age 6, born Illinois Calvin C., age 5, born Illinois Liddia A., age 3, born Illinois Margaret A., age 1, born Illinois The 1880 census for Lawndale Twp., McLean Co., Illinois, (vol. 37, ed 182, sheet 11, line1) shows the following: Austin Castle, age 44, farmer, born Ohio, father & mother both born NY. CATHERINE M., age 43, wife, keepinghouse, born Ohio, mother & father both born Ohio. MARTHA E., age 13, dau,. at home, attending school, born in Illinois. Daniel E., age 8, son, at home, attending school, born in Illinois. John L., age 7, son, at home, attending school, born in Illinois. Ruben K., age 6, son, at home, attending school, born in Illinois. I Have a copy of the birth certificate for Daniel Elkanah Castle. He was born on 29 August 1871 in [Colfax] Allin Twp., McLean Co., Illinois. The certificate was attested to by Daniel's brother, J.L. Castle, in 1943, in Wheeling, Livingston Co., Missouri. Daniel married Ida Maretta Parvin of Springfield, Missouri on 8 August 1894. He died on 11 July 1956 in Emerson, Nebraska. Obituary from the, Illinois newspaper, "The Weekly Pantagraph" of 13 January 1899: "Anchor - The remains of A. F. Castle, who died Monday night at the age of 63 years, at his home northwest of town, were interred in the Fairview Cemetery Wednesday. An extract of Austin's obituary from "The Colfax Press" of 13 Jan 1899 : "b. Licking C. O. [actually Licking Twp., Muskingum Co.] Nov. 8,1835 d. nw of Anchor. 63 yrs. old. to Tazwell Co. 1852, to Stanford, 1872 to this vicinity with his mother. marr. Oct. 19, 1860 to Catherine Amanda Baird, 8 ch, 4 died in infancy, wife died June 1882; marr. Agnes Catherine Trippe, died Dec 24, 1893; bur. Fairview. The register of deaths lists Austin's occupation as farmer. Says he was a widower. He died of Bright's disease with dropsy as a complication. Buried in Fairview Cemetery,11 January 1899. I have a copy of Austin's death certificate (State #7497). He died on 10 January 1899 in Anchor, McLean Co., Illinois, where he had resided for 42 years, at the age of 63y, 2m, 2d. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery. According to the Livingston Co. Historical & Genealogical Society, the Castle burials at Fairview Cemetery are apparently among many in the cemetery for which there are no stones. .
