George Castle died in the War of 1812, he named his first son: Elizur Spelman Castle. According to Barbour Collection, Elizur Spelman was born around 1780 the approximate year that George Castle was born. Both Elizur Spelman and George Castle named sons George W. Castle. I believe that George Castle must have been somehow connected with the CT Castles. Elizur Spelman was not a frequent name. I think George Castle must have named his first son after a good friend, just as Elizur named a son after his friend George. Hi Sandy: Have you ever seen anything on Josiah Castle in Castleton, Vermont. He is in the probate records. This is a name that hasn't popped up before, and I sure am curious. I believe I have found the parents of Roswell Castle who married Roxanna Hartwell, so now I am on the trail to find more records for verification. I am thinking it was a Caswell/Castle thing. I know there was a Josiah Caswell in Castleton, but you know how often those names have been intertwined. Thanks Joyce
