The information that I have is very limited, just an initial and a surname. My objective is to ensure that there is as comprehensive a record of those who died as is practical. The memorial itself is in Deddington and it commemorates people from the nearby villages of Hempton, Clifton, Duns Tew and Adderbury Some of the names are simple to track but others have so far eluded me. One such person is – George W H CASTLE or G W H Castle as is inscribed on the memorial What I have managed to establish is Births Dec 1883 CASTLE George William H Woodstock Registration District 1891 census Albert J CASTLE 30 Agricultural Labourer born in Clifton Lydia CASTLE 42 born in Hempton and their children George W H CASTLE 7 born in Clifton, James CASTLE 4 born in Clifton Arthur Jubilee CASTLE 3 born in Clifton Albert CASTLE 2 born in Clifton 1901 census Lydia, James, Arthur and Eva CASTLE are in the Workhouse which was in Woodstock. There is no obvious trace of the Father, Albert J CASTLE or George W H CASTLE himself. Looking at the records in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, there does not appear to be a likely candidate. What I wish to find out is when and where George W H CASTLE died, where he is buried and where he was in 1901. Can anyone help please?
