    3. Hi Sandy: It has been some time since we spoke last, and sorry to hear you haven't been up to par. Hopefully, this surgery will get you back and running after all those bones. When ever you are up to it to look for Josiah is fine. Good luck Joyce -----Original Message----- From: castle-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:castle-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Iwcsandy@aol.com Sent: Friday, February 09, 2007 12:16 PM To: castle@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CASTLE] Josiah Castle Hi Joyce, Seems like your luck has been better than mine. I will check the census records I have and see if Josiah is there and will let you know what I find. It seems that does sound familiar but can't be sure til I check. Am having surgery next week so it may take me a while to check. Nothing too serious. Had a slight stroke in Dec so haven't been doing much lately. I am told this procedure will prevent another occurrence. Would be a great thing to find his parents. 1. [CASTLE] English "Castles"
    2. Barb Miller
    3. Hi all, Does anyone on this list happen to have any Castles from Canterbury, Kent area in their family trees? Especially a George Castle who married Sarah Briggs? before 1840. They had at least one child Mary Ann Castle, but i do not know anything else about them except that Mary Ann emigrated to South Australia. I am hoping that one day, someone on the list will have one of their family lines that stayed back in England while the rest went to America and the ones that stayed may be mine! - ever hopeful!! I have been unable to ascertain whether her parents came too, but think she may have come as a domestic servant to another family, as I have been unable to find any trace of them out here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Barb

    3. Hi Sandy: Have you ever seen anything on Josiah Castle in Castleton, Vermont. He is in the probate records. This is a name that hasn't popped up before, and I sure am curious. I believe I have found the parents of Roswell Castle who married Roxanna Hartwell, so now I am on the trail to find more records for verification. I am thinking it was a Caswell/Castle thing. I know there was a Josiah Caswell in Castleton, but you know how often those names have been intertwined. Thanks Joyce

    1. [CASTLE] George Castle
    2. Bob Castle
    3. George Castle died in the War of 1812, he named his first son: Elizur Spelman Castle. According to Barbour Collection, Elizur Spelman was born around 1780 the approximate year that George Castle was born. Both Elizur Spelman and George Castle named sons George W. Castle. I believe that George Castle must have been somehow connected with the CT Castles. Elizur Spelman was not a frequent name. I think George Castle must have named his first son after a good friend, just as Elizur named a son after his friend George. Since both George and Samuel settled in Ohio, one of my researcher believes they may have been connected, brother, cousins, etc. Sandy Castle send an email to CASTLE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

There has been some speculation that Uri Castle (b. 1816-1820 VT) might be a son of Asher's second or third marriage, but no documentation has been produced as far as I have ever seen. Unfortunately, some people have seen such speculation and taken it for "gospel." Looking forward to hearing about your information, Judy Castle Stubbs
