My great great grandmother was Alberta Castle. Her parents I believe were Kenderson Castle and Elizabeth Slifer. I have scans of a number of photos that belonged to my grandmother. So far I have been able to identify a couple of photos. I have no idea of the date ranges of the photos, though they are mostly on cardboard stock, and a few dates and one photo, seem to point to the later 1800s. Most of the photos come from the Frederick and Hagerstown area of Maryland. I'm taking a long shot here if they are Castles however. My Grandmother was a Hargett and her mother was Anna Kessler, daughter of William Kessler and Alberta Castle. If anyone recognizes any of them, great, if not I'm no worse off now. He was married in 1888 to Minnie Grace IRWIN also of Middlesex and died in 1947 in Essex, England. His parents names were William CASTLE, born approx. 1847 in Stepney, Middlesex and Sarah CLACK born approx. 1850 of Middlesex. I believe that this William's parents were named William CASTLE born approx. 1806 in London and Ann BAKER born approx. 1811 in London. William James had at least one son, William Victor CASTLE who was born in England but moved to Lachute, Quebec, Canada. Any information on this line would be most appreciated! My grandfather's name was James Castle and he went by Jim. He served in World War 2 in the Navy. He spent time in Japan during the war also. I'm unsure about the troop number and division he was in but I'm going to call my mother and see if she can find all the information she has on him. I know this may be a random fluke that my grandad had the same name as the guy you are looking for, but then again it may not. And Castle Woods The lineage I have for him is: Yellis Cassel 1590-1681 his son Johannes 1639-1691 his son Peter 1673-1749 and his son Jacob Castle the hunter 1717-1789 This line of Yellis and Johannes are the line that came from Kriesham, Palatinate, Pfalz Germany to Germantown, Pennsylvania which is the one that my Ydna matches. Have you listed your dna on Y-search. I havn't been to their site for awhile I guess I should take another look around. Have you found any of your Cassels in South Carolina.
