Joyce, Thanks for your inquiry regarding possible connection of my Castle line with Henry Castle (abt 1613-abt 1698). I don't think there's any connection, but I could always be wrong. I checked on the LDS familysearch.org website and found several hits of your Henry in the area of Wiltshire England, and other places quite far removed from the earliest suspected location of my John Castle (Sandwich, Kent). In addition, so far I have no hint of anyone from my family line in America prior to my great grandfather in the 1850's-70's, whereas Henry Castle was evidently one of the earlier settlers in CT. Hi Diana, MY earlier for sure Castle is my great-great-great grandfather, Otho Castle (178? - 1822), born probably in Middletown Valley, Frederick County MD. Sources such as TJC Williams' History of Frederick County MD, list Otho's birth as 1792, but I have several independent sources of indrect evidence that indicate he was born earlier, perhaps 1782, and no later than 1787. Otho married Elizabeth Baker in 1807. Joseph Castle has been noted a a "progenitor" of the Castle family, but sources hint that he might have arrived in the USA with other family members (brothers). Sources include Zion Lutheran Church Middletown MD church records Otho's father has been noted as Joseph Castle (1763 - 1835), shoemaker, immigrant Otho's contemporarary, Thomas Castle, (1783-1845) also of Mddletown Valley MD might have been Otho's brother (or cousin) Kenderson Castle (1848- 1929) son of John and Malinda C Smith Castle, and married to Elizabeth Ann Young (1849/51 - 1915) is also a possible realtive of Otho. Elizabeth Ann Young could have been the daughter of Henry and Mary Martin Young. My Castle research focus is to determine any documented connections, or non-connections, for the above folks. They are believed to have lived in the Putnam County, West Virginia area. Most likely they married in Gallia Co., Ohio but I do not have proof of this. We believe this family was large and some of the kids were Samuel Tackett born 1803 in Kanawha Co.W.Va. He married Hannah Davis and had a large family then my line, William L.
