Mr. Matthews, a native of San Diego, lived in Riverbank 15 years. He worked as a construction superintendent 23 years. He was a former member of Beyer Band Boosters and was active with Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Wanda Matthews of Riverbank children, Michael Allen Matthews of San Diego and Colleen Matthews of Riverbank; and a brother, Warren Matthews of San Diego. A private funeral will be held at Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs Modesto. Burial is private. There will be no public visitation.
