Actually, I am not so much interested in Leonard as I am in finding out more information on his parents, specifically his father, August Leonard Wilson (born about 1860). I figured if I could find his obit perhaps that would shed some more light on my mysterious g.g.grandfather. He and my g.g.grandmother were both immigrants from Sweden to Stockton, Ca. I have found their marriage certificate from 1887, and my g.grandmother was born in 1888, but after Leonard's death I have not been able to piece together what became of August. I have not been able to find him in ANY Federal Census records (1890 would be the one I needed most, but as luck would have it, it was destroyed in a fire). I checked the California Voter Registers to no avail. In the 1900 Census Ida (Anderson) Wilson, his wife, was listed as married but head of household living in Oakdale. Where was August? I have heard rumors he may have worked as a cook on a ship so perhaps he was at work that day. Then I know that they either divorced or he died because in 1903 Ida remarried a man by the name of Edward Jesse. She then lived the remainder of her life in Contra Costa County where she died in 1960. From stories in the family August drank and she was very contemptuous when she spoke of him. Sorry this is so long. If you have any pointers on other places I could look, please let me know. I'd greatly appreciate it.
