Hello. Am new to this list. The Stanislaus County GenWeb page names a Thompson's Rancho. Does someone have more information on that, especially who it originally belonged to? R.E. and NANCY THOMPSON appear on the 1860 Stanislaus census, Page 747, Emory Township, LaGrange Post Office. I believe this is ROBERT E. THOMPSON of Forsyth County, Georgia, born about 1818-20. Don't know who his wife was other than the NANCY named on this census. I believe he travelled to Stanislaus County in about 1857 with the families of CHARLES G. BAILEY and JAMES H. LANDRUM. Landrum also appears on the 1860 Stanislaus census. Robert Thompson was in Los Angeles County by 1870. Do not know what year he moved. I believe his wife might have died by that time. Any information on a possible obituary and/or cemetery information for Nancy Thompson greatly appreciated. Also, information about the Thompson Rancho and any possible information on Robert Thompson in Stanislaus County in the1860s. Most likely he was farming and/or raising stock. Any hints on where to look also appreciated. Thanks, Sharon [email protected]
