Born in Arkansas, he had lived here since 1931 and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his widow, Guthrie; five daughters, including Lena Naylor and Margaret Riggins, both of Modesto; a son, a brother and a sister; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
