A native of Arkansas, he had lived in Turlock since 1945. Guthrie leaves two daughters, Barbara Jean Graham of Arkansas and Carolyn Sue Guthrie of Turlock; a son, Bill Guthrie stationed with the army in France; his mother, Effie Guthrie and a brother, Bob, both of Turlock; four sisters, Viola Huffman of Turlock, Betty Foster of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, Marie Deevers of Roseville, Placer County and Lola Bloomer of Turlock and one grandchild.
