A. Vail, a veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, F. C. Vail, on the Dry Creek road. Mr. Vail was 84 years of age and had resided in this county for the past seven years. He was a native of Canada. Deceased is survived by J. R. Vail and John Vail, sons, of Modesto, and Mrs. J. A. Russell, a daughter, Modesto. There are several other children in the east.
