Stockton Record Neal E. Wade County schools superintendent Neal E. Wade, 90, of Modesto died Sept. 23 in a Stockton hospital. He was born in Mohall, N.D. Wade lived in Modesto for 34 years before moving to Stockton a year ago. He was Stanislaus County superintendent of schools from 1969 to 1978. Wade was involved in public education starting in 1941 as a teacher, coach and administrator. He retired in 1978. Wade was a member of Rotary Club, California Association of School Administrators, California and National Associations of Secondary School Administrators, Stanislaus County Retired Administrators, California Retired Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa, UC Berkeley Chapter, Sons In Retirement, Masonic Lodge White Pines Chapter, Sportsmen of Stanislaus and Valley Mountain Regional Center. He was also a member of University of California Alumni Association, Yosemite Area Council Boy Scouts of America, California Association for Neurologically Handicapped Children. and Special Olympics. Wade was former president of the board and acting director of Valley Mountain Regional Center. Survivors: children, John Stephen Wade of Fresno and Jill Craig of Stockton; and a grandson. Beyer died in a plane crash I worked on the campaign of the one of the candidates that ran to replace him in 1978 when he chose not to run for reelection.....
