VAN NUYS MAY 14, 1909 - JAN 31, 2005 Elizabeth passed away peacefully in her sleep at Pacific Coast Manor in Capitola after a short illness. Elizabeth was a native of Chicago, Illinois and after graduating from the University of Chicago, she moved to San Francisco, CA where she met and married the love of her life, H. Alan Van Nuys. They had one child, Peter Alan and in 1948 moved to Carmel, CA. In 1980, Elizabeth moved to Modesto, CA to be near her son and his family. In 2004, she moved to Capitola to be near her daughter-in-law and only grandchild. Elizabeth (called Wimsey by her grandson) was an accomplished artist and poet who had an adventurous spirit, a lust for life; an insatiable curiosity as well as an irreverent and zany sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Mary-Helen, her husband H. Alan Van Nuys and their only child, Peter. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Leslie Van Nuys of Soquel and grandson Matthew Van Nuys of Bonny Doon, CA.; who adored her and will miss her tremendously. As was typical of Elizabeth, she had a poem for every occasion and had penned these last words... I've broken almost all the rules but can't say I regret it. I simply smile and join the fools who laugh and say forget it At Elizabeth's request there will be no public services.
