A native of Texas, she lived in Oklahoma and Beaumont before coming to Delhi in 1945. She was a member of the Delhi Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters. Eleanor Mills of Hemet; Ruth McAllister of Los Angeles, and Donna Wattles and Barney Wilhite of Delhi; four sons, Alvin and Lyman of San Bernardino, Johnnie of Arlington and Billie of Exeter; five sisters and one brother and 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Hester Lewis Turlock Services are pending in the Allen Mortuary for Hester Lewis, 74, who died yesterday in a Riverside County hospital after a long illness. Page D2 Thursday, February 22, 1962 The Modesto Bee Don Lewis Turlock Don Lewis, 65, a retired Delhi Merced County lawman died last night in his home following a suddent illness. A native of Kentucky, Lewis lived in Oklahoma before coming to California in 1923. He resided in Beuamont before moving to Delhi 10 years ago. Her served five years as a deputy sheriff in Riverside County and three years in similar capacity in Merced county. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge in Shawnee Okla and the Broadway Baptist Church of Turlock. He leaves his widow Hester; four daughters, Eleanor Mills of Hemet, Ruth McAllister of Louisiana, Donna J. Wattles of Delhi and Ronnie Bell Wilhite of Winton, Merced County; fives sons, Irvin T. of Long Beach, Alvin S. and Johnny D. of Delhi, Billy K. of Turlock and Lyman of Port Hueneme; 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchild. Funeral services are pending at Allen Mortuary.
