Long active in nursing fields, Mrs. Wissner was a native of Great Falls, Mont. She graduated from Deacons Hospital School of Nursing in Great Falls in 1926. A registered nurse, she was interested in and promoted the nursing educational system in Modesto for 35 years and worked with the Stanislaus County Health Department in the 1930's. She was a nurse at the old Hammond General Hospital in Modesto during World War II. Mrs. Wissner had lived in California 37 years and in Modesto 35 years. She was a member of St. John's Chapel of the Valley. She also held membership in the National and California Retired Teachers Associations and Electa Chapter 72, Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves five sisters and brothers, Katherine McGiffin of Auburn, Madalynne Hart of Glendale, Dr. Earner Higgins of Kalispell, Mont., Harold Higgins of Black Eagle, Mont., and Arthur Higgins of Great Falls, Mont.; a niece, Karen Blanco of Modesto, and a nephew, John Rietjens of Auburn. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in the Acacia Memorial Park. Transcribed by Judy Ewbank
