TURPEN, 80, FORMER GLASS, WOOD SHOP OPERATOR, DIES Turlock - Addison E. Turpen, 80, who lived in the Modesto-Turlock district most of his life, died yesterday in a Modesto hospital after a lingering illness. The Rev. Primus Bennett, First Christian Church pastor will officiate at services at 2 pm tomorrow in Norton Mortuary. Interment will be in the family plot in Citizens Cemetery, Modesto. The family requests any remembrance be sent to the American Cancer Society. A native of Fresno County, he and a brother owned and operated a glass and woodworking shop on Front Street here 12 years before moving the business to Olive Street. Ill health forced Turpen to retire in 1949. He leaves his widow, Ida L. of Turlock; two sons, E. Vernon Turpen of Turlock and Warren F. Turpen of Sacramento; a daughter, Mrs. I. W. Hardy of Modesto; two sisters, Mrs. G. M Lock of Modesto and Mrs. Mary Schoettler of Fresno; four brothers, A. C. and W. B. of Sacramento, A. G. of Modesto and O.
