OVERBY Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Salas Brothers Chapel for James Claud Overby, 78, who died Friday in a local hospital after an extended illness. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi. An Oklahoma native, he was a Modesto resident for 26 years and was a retired Maintenance man at Gallo Winery. He leaves his widow, Grace of Modesto; seven daughters, Lois Arington and Virginia Carpenter, both of Hayward, Maybelle Brennan of San Lorenzo, Norma Burdue of Galt and Juanice Garcia, Donnie Coronado and Lucy Turner; all of Modesto; two sons, Bobby of Hayward and Walter of Modesto; one brother and three sisters, 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
