FERREL---Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Turlock for Rex Warne Ferrel, 84, of Turlock, who died Wednesday at his home. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. He moved to Stanislaus County in 1916 and had lived in Turlock since 1987. He attended Modesto schools and Modesto Junior College and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1932 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the Turlock Irrigation District at Don Pedro Dam and later worked for a defense contractor in San Jose during World War II. He moved to Denair in 1945 and taught math and science for 20 years at Turlock High School. He was active in the Latter-day Saints Turlock Ward where he served as a bishop from 1954-64. He also served on the Modesto and Stockton high councils. He was a church bishop in Twin Falls, Idaho, from 1978 to 1983 and stake auditor in Turlock until January off this year. He is survived by his wife, June N. Ferrel of Turlock; a daughter, Alice R. Glenn of Idaho Falls; a son, David W. of Gaithersburg, Md.; a brother Carol M. of Santa Cruz; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchidren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Emauel Medical Center, 825 Delbon Ave., Turlock 95382. Services are under the direction of Allen Mortuary.
