(My Mother has an old handwritten note that reads, "May Head born 1890 in Byron, CA." However, I contacted Contra Costa County and they do NOT have any record of her birth.) Recently, I found an obit of Fanny Louise Stone (1859-1925) which stated that she was survived by a daughter, Mrs. W. A. Noland (obviously, this was May Noland). [I believe that Fannie's parents were George William Donaldson Fannie T. McDonough.] Although a census record said that Fanny Stone bore 6 children, only 1 was living, May Head. (Fannie's marriage to Thomas Stone was her 2nd marriage; I cannot find any record of her 1st marriage to a Mr. Head, if there ever was one. May was born before Fannie married Stone.) I now believe that May (Head) Noland and William Noland were divorced around 1927 in Oakdale, CA, that she continued to go by May Noland to at least the 1930 census, continued living in Stanislaus County, CA, got remarried to an unknown man, and probably died in the 1936-38 time frame. My mother remembers meeting the man in 1941 in either Riverbank or Oakdale, CA, but cannot recall his name. He remarried after May died. This have been VERY FRUSTRATING for me to find May's birth or death record, and thus, I haven't been able to find who May's father was!
